The Hornets 400+ concourse TVs were showing only the broadcast feed during games, leaving fans in the cold on the content they crave and losing out on valuable marketing and sponsor inventory.
For the 2013-14 season, FanConnect installed two TV channels targeting general concourse and premium areas. The general concourse channel offered additional inventory for sponsors while the premium channel offered an exclusive video trigger for a luxury auto dealer which brought in $100K per season.
In 2016, the Hornets sold naming rights of a lounge and needed exclusive branding throughout the area.
Utilizing FanConnect RF players behind each of the 16 TVs, the Hornets offered BlueCross/BlueShield persistent branding on-screen regardless of channel.
The Hornets wanted to capture valuable impressions and augment their premium suite offerings with technology to fit.
In 2018 the Hornets implemented FanConnect Suite and Alexa to provide a deeper, interactive engagement for fans. FanConnect Suite allows each TV to be wrapped with content and statistics regardless of channel. FanConnect Alexa lets fans control their suite experience by voice, whether they want to watch a specific channel, see menus or stats, order food, play trivia, or call an attendant.
Sponsorship revenue driven by FanConnect steadily increased each year since implementation. In 2018, game programs were eliminated as game information and sponsor assets moved to the FanConnect platform.
